My First Notes
Believe it or not, my musical journey began in the most unexpected place - our old garage! Nestled between dusty boxes and forgotten toys was my grandma's old guitar. I was about six, curious and eager. Those first few strums, though far from melodious, were the beginning of my love affair with music.
Growing Up With Music
โAs I grew, my passion did too. I'd rush back from school to play, sing, or just experiment with tunes. But it wasn't always easy. There were times when the chords seemed too tricky, or my voice just wouldn't cooperate. Yet, with every stumble, my family's encouragement was the gentle nudge that kept me going.
Practicing: More Fun than Chore
โPractice wasnโt always my favourite word. But over time, I found ways to make it more playful and less task-y:
- Tiny Goals: Instead of long hours, I'd set tiny targets - perfecting a chord or mastering a song line.
- Jam Sessions: Playing with friends or family made practice feel like a fun group activity.
- Rewards: Be it a treat or an extra hour of video games, rewarding myself was always motivating!
Why I Do What I Do
โSimply put, it's the joy. The joy of creating, of expressing, of connecting. Every note I play, every song I sing, is a piece of my heart I share with the world. And through Kids Gigs, the opportunity to inspire and be inspired by young, budding artists like many of you is an indescribable feeling.
A Note to You
โIf there's one thing I'd want to share, it's this: embrace your unique rhythm. Itโs okay if your journey doesnโt look like someone else's. Whether you play an instrument, dance, paint, or write, do it with all your heart. And remember, every artist, including me, started with just one note.
I'm so grateful to be a part of this wonderful Kids Gigs family, where we celebrate, nurture, and dance to the tunes of dreams and passion.
